"Dead Wrong" comes in third place

I just found out a script I entered in the AAA Screenplay Contest sponsored by Creative Screenwriting magazine titled "Dead Wrong" came in third for the "Best First Five Pages Contest" part of the competition.

I have no idea if I actually win anything beyond bragging rights, but I'll definitely use this to help promote the screenplay as I try and get it optioned. In fact, increasingly screenplay contests are being used as the first line of defense in Hollywood or even in Canada. Producers seem increasingly loath to read scripts unless they've won some kind of contest so that they know someone else actually rubber stamped the script.

I'll let you know if I actually win anything for my third place showing or if it leads to something.

But it's at least a nice little day brightener!

Congratulations! It's always nice to get recognition for our work! I was fortunate enough to reach the semi-finals in the Nicholl competition a few years ago and it did wonders to generate interest in the script and land some assignments. I hope you'll consider publishing your first five pages of "Dead Wrong" here.

Thanks. It was a day brightener.

And the Nicholl competition is very prestigious! Well done.

As you can see, I took your advice and posted the 5 pages. Let me know what you think.
